Flower Beanie

This was designed for a dolls magazine about 7 years ago. It was designed with reborn dolls in mind but can be used to for babies.

Sizes

Small preemie (10-12″ body length)
Preemie (14-16″ body length)
Newborn (18-20″ body length)
0-3 month (20-22″ body length)

Pattern

Materials needed:
Small preemie
10g-UK 4ply, AU 4ply, USA sports fingering, Crochet hook USA C, UK 3mm,
Gauge -11dc x 5rows to 2″(5cm)
Tension- 11tr x 5rows to 2″(5cm)

Preemie
15g- UK DK, AU 8ply, USA Light worsted (3), Crochet hook USA E, UK 3.5mm,
Gauge -10dc x 4rows to 2″(5cm)
Tension- 10tr x4rows to 2″(5cm)

Newborn
18g-UK 4ply, AU 4ply, USA sports fingering, Crochet hook USA C, UK 3mm,
Gauge -11dc x 5rows to 2″(5cm)
Tension- 11tr x 5rows to 2″(5cm)

0-3 month
24g- UK DK, AU 8ply, USA Light worsted (3), Crochet hook USA F, UK 4mm,
Gauge -10dc x 4rows to 2″(5cm)
Tension- 10tr x 4rows to 2″(5cm)

USA Terminology

Using appropriate hook and yarn as above
Ch4, sl.st to form ring

Rnd 2: ch3, 1dc into base of ch-3, 2dc into each st to end, sl.st into top of beg ch-3 (24, 24, 28, 28sts)
Rnd 3:ch3, 2dc into next st, * 1dc into next st, 2dc into next st, rep from * to end, sl.st into top of beg ch-3 (36, 36, 42, 42sts)
Rnd 4: ch3, 1dc in next st, 2dc into next st, * 1dc into next 2sts, 2dc into next st, rep from * to end, sl. st into top of beg ch-3 (48, 48, 56, 56sts)

Using appropriate hook & yarn as above
Make 4ch, sl. st to form ring
Rnd 1: ch1, 8, 8, 10, 10sc into ring, sl.st into top of beg sc
Fasten off yarn if changing colour and rejoin it to the top of any sc if not just continue
Rnd 2: * ch6, 6, 8, 8, 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc into next 4, 4, 6, 6sts, sl.st into the
same sc, ch6, 6, 8, 8, 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc into next 4, 4, 6, 6sts, sl.st into
next sc, rep from * to end, sl.st into bottom of beg ch-6, 6, 8, 8
Fasten off yarn, sew flower onto the hat and sew in threads.
